The Venture Alternative Learning (VAL) Project
The Venture Alternative Learning (VAL) project is a programme that works with young people between the ages of 13 and 16 who are disengaged with education, emotionally vulnerable and most at risk of becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training).
At present The Venture offers three different courses which provide a range of experiences, qualifications and accreditation that aim to support and nurture the young people and their families, re-engage them with their education and help them to focus on their move into further education or employment.
The courses are run by Robert Hill and Kate Buirski who are both PGCE qualified teachers and very experienced in their subject areas as well as working with students with complex emotional and behavioral needs. The success of this project is down to strong relationships, innovative teaching methods and the triangulation of support between the school, the family and the young person.
