Supporting every child to achieve their full potential
Janet originally trained, and then worked for a number of years, in graphic design. A design project involving Janet’s direct work with a local community, particularly their young people, triggered a change in her desired work direction.
This resulted in her employment as a Youth & Community Officer, then later Project Leader with Wrexham Community Agency. During this time, Janet also got involved in Trade Union activity, becoming a Branch Secretary for N.U.P.E.
Janet went on to become the Wrexham Community Safety Team Manager for Wrexham County Borough Council (WCBC). Here she worked with many public & voluntary sector agencies in Wrexham, and across Wales and the UK, to develop key community-based initiatives, to establish and operate a range of multi-agency Community Safety policies.
As part of the re-organisation of Local Government, Janet took early retirement in 2012. Since then, she has re-ignited her interest in arts and crafts through her design work, pastel painting and jewellery making to name but a few. She has also participated in, and sometimes coordinated, local Craft Fairs where local crafters can sell their work.
